About IDP Aid
As we continue to be fed by the print and electronic media of the humanitarian crisis of those who have been displaced by the conflict, we believe that we must do all that we can to mobilize our resources and assist those in need, as well as support the authorities in providing assistance.
We, as in “Rotary International District 3220 Sri Lanka” have formed a Committee at District level, towards rendering whatever assistance possible to the thousands who have been displaced in the North-East and who are in dire need of basic facilities to live.
While we are heartened that our efforts are being supported by our island wide membership, as well as the international network of Rotary Districts and Clubs, we are hopeful that we will continue to be supported by many others who want to ease the sufferings of many through our efforts.
We have already formed an ‘Apex Committee’, so that our efforts are structured and effective
in terms of facilitation, procurement, distribution, logistics, storage, accountability, transparency, etc. All vital componants to ensure that our Donors and also importantly beneficiaries are satisfied with the work of Rotary.
Our previous humanitarian efforts in the aftermath of the tsunami of Dec 2004 and the much lauded Schools Re Awakening Project stands as testament and credibility of what we can achieve.
